Welcome to House of Wonders: A collection of home furnishings, accents and gifts which have been lovingly hand crafted from the seasoned hardwoods of retired Indian Ocean Sailing Dhows once seen plying the waters between Tanzania & Zanzibar.

Dhow Style Furniture from House of Wonders is an introduction to an epic tale that has it roots in centuries old boat building throughout the Indian Ocean. It is the evolution of these boats and the people whose livelihoods still depend on them that brings this tale in to modern times and thus House of Wonders.

Dhow Style is not just a how-to lesson on decorating your space with dhow wood products, it is a lesson on decorating with a sense of responsibility.

We salvage the dhows and ship them inland to our work shop near Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania where over 40 fundis (craftsmen) carefully disassemble and then re-invent them into the timeless treasures you find only at House of Wonders. From there, our furniture is shipped all over the world. Our pieces may be individually shipped directly from Tanzania, or consolidated through our logistical points in Europe, the Caribbean or the Americas.

From the planks and frames of large cargo vessels, we have designed and built each piece and from the smaller canoes, our trademark: The Dhow Library. No two pieces are alike...
